April President’s Message

andrew-ryan-medNational Volunteer Week will be celebrated April 10 – 16. This special week provides an opportunity to recognize and encourage people to engage with their local community. It also seems like the perfect time to take a moment and thank the many volunteers who make PRSA Richmond so special!

Dozens of our chapter members engage with PRSA on a variety of levels. The chapter wouldn’t be able to operate without the dedication of our volunteers. Contributions both large and small have a significant and positive impact in PRSA Richmond. Each of our chapter’s 26 board members are volunteers, and one board member even commutes in from Charlottesville!

It’s not just the individuals who serve on the chapter’s board of directors who make a difference. Lots of chapter members volunteer in a number of ways. Here are just a few recent examples:

  • Eight chapter members participated in VCU’s Create-A-Thon, which connects PR and marketing professionals with VCU students to engage their knowledge, skills and creativity for a 24 hour marathon to help Richmond area non-profits.
  • 28 chapter members are currently serving as reciprocal judges, reviewing award entries for PRSA Chicago’s Skyline Awards.
  • 14 APRs from the Richmond chapter will serve on readiness review panels as part of the PRSA Mid-Atlantic Boot Camp.
  • More than a dozen members serve on PRSA Richmond committees.

PRSA Richmond members serve the chapter and the greater community every day. To all of the volunteers and on behalf of the entire chapter, please accept my sincere appreciation.

THANK YOU!
