June President’s Message
Schools will soon be out for summer break, and vacations are approaching. At PRSA Richmond, we are excited to be preparing for awards season. If you haven’t started your 2022 Virginia PR Awards entries yet, here’s a gentle reminder that just under two weeks remain to enter at the regular rate! Enter by June 13 and save.
Also, do you know a seasoned PR practitioner who has made great contributions to the profession? Submit their name for the 2022 Excellence in Public Relations Award, the chapter’s highest honor that exemplifies the best in the business each year. We’re also looking to recognize an outstanding new member of the public relations profession who has five or fewer years of experience in PR for the 2022 Rising Star Award. Submit your nominations for either award by June 27.
I am really excited about our June speaker! Please mark your calendars for June 30 and learn about the unique challenges of government communications. Our speaker, Dena Potter, serves as the director of communications at the Virginia Department of General Services. She will talk about her experience as a government communicator who has worked on a variety of challenging topics lately: from getting shots in arms, to bringing down a monument and helping with the transition of government.
And if you have time this summer to catch up, don’t hesitate to reach out to me to learn more about PRSA Richmond, talk PR or learn how you can become a PRSA RVA board member. I am here and would love to get to know you more. Reach me at president@prsarichmond.org.
Happy and safe summer to all!
