May President’s Message
Welcome to part two of pollen season – I mean May! I do love this month (once the allergy pills kick in!) because it means more time outdoors with family and friends before the humidity hits! It is also officially awards season with the Virginia PR Awards Call for Entries open and teams putting together their nominations for the Rising Star and the newly renamed Excellence in Public Relations Awards. If you haven’t submitted in the past, please consider it this year – there is so much high-quality work in our field and so many incredibly talented practitioners – we want to be sure they are recognized!
The Awards committee is working on a fall celebration at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden on October 11 – save the date. More details will be shared over the summer.
In the spirit of spring, please join us for an outdoor chapter happy hour on Thursday, May 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hardywood in Scott’s Addition. We’ll have our own area on the patio with pizza and appetizers, and live music will begin a 6:30 for those that want to stick around later into the evening. Please register online.
Beyond PRSA Richmond, be sure to take advantage of some great professional development opportunities offered by PRSA National. Their webinars and workshops provide us with access to nationally and internationally recognized practitioners. Now is a great time to explore best practices and changing skill sets in the communications field.
Please reach out to me to learn more about PRSA Richmond, talk PR or learn how you can become a PRSA RVA board member. I am here and would love to get to know you more. Reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Enjoy the weather and see you soon!
