Member Spotlight: Sydney Bernstein-Miller
Sydney Bernstein-Miller is one of PRSA Richmond’s newest members. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications and English from George Mason University, and currently serves as a public relations and media specialist with the Virginia Department of Social Services.
What do you enjoy most about being a public relations practitioner?
I have always been a passionate writer and appreciate that the public relations field allows me the opportunity to craft stories that highlight the good work being done in my workplace and community. I consider it an honor to hear people’s stories and elevate their experiences to a public setting through careful pitching and engaging writing.
What three accomplishments, personal and/or professional, you are most proud of?
I am proud of having maintained a 3.99/4.0 GPA throughout my college career. I am also proud of having landed positive media hits in notable publications such as Forbes, Men’s Health Magazine and The Financial Times, all within my first two years out of college. Finally, I am proud of my dedication to preserving and advancing the awareness, education and practice of authentic jazz dancing in the greater Richmond area.
How does PRSA help to support your success?
PRSA helps support my success by keeping me abreast of the latest best practices and resources in my field. It is a source of continuing education that grows alongside my own professional development.
What is one of your favorite take-aways from the chapter or best recent memory from your involvement?
I have enjoyed attending the monthly luncheons and already feel more connected to the public relations field and my local counterparts through the networking, learning and socializing opportunities the chapter facilitates.
