PRSA Members Volunteer for 2016 VCU CreateAthon
As part of the chapter’s Pro Bono Assistance program, eight PRSA Richmond members joined teams of VCU students March 10 to volunteer for the 2016 VCU CreateAthon. CreateAthon is a 24-hour volunteer program that gives VCU students the opportunity to use their creative talents to help participating nonprofit organizations with marketing, communications and branding, with the end goal of providing solutions that make immediate impacts.
PRSA Richmond members Elyssa Bernstein; Diana Burkett, APR; Judi Crenshaw, APR; Raina Fields, APR; Colleen Flynn, Michelle Rosman, Nina Sims and Jeff Wilson, APR, represented PRSA Richmond.
“It was very invigorating – a fun opportunity that was different from my day-to-day, and I really found the students gave me a burst of energy,” said Burkett. “The nonprofits were so interesting and diverse, and it was great to give back. It was also a nice reminder of how lucky we are to have careers in this field. So many students would give anything to be in our shoes!”
The nonprofits that participated included Capital Diaper Bank, Colonial Heights Food Pantry, Central Virginia Legal Aid Society, IT4Causes, LINC, ReEstablish Richmond, Richmond Public Schools, Richmond Public Schools Foundation and RxPartnership.
